Faith Life Church of Branson's Extreme Makeover Brings New Life to Children's Cottage at Boys & Girls Town

SPRINGFIELD, MO (October 11, 2010) – Toutz Cottage, one of four on-campus residences for children living on Boys & Girls Town’s Springfield campus has received a complete makeover thanks to the members of Faith Life Church in Branson, Mo. Months ago, while touring campus , church and youth group leaders got the idea for the project. The church pledged to assemble the funds and professional contractors needed to remodel Toutz Cottage – completely from their congregation.

Dedicating more than 1,100 volunteer hours, the members of the church repainted and revamped nearly every surface of the cottage. From ceiling to floors in the bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen and living area have been made over along with new cabinets and appliances.  The crowning touch was the purchase of new furniture for the living room and new dining tables and chairs in the kitchen.

“The kids absolutely love it. It meant a lot to the kids to see their living space completely transformed,” noted Keith Mackie, therapist for Toutz Cottage.  “It was easy for the kids to realize the care and support comes from not just Boys & Girls Town, but the communities surrounding us.”
